Pro CV to MIDI - IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT FIRMWARE UPGRADING
------------------------------------------------------

Remember that the instructions in any new manual (in the zip file) do not apply until AFTER
the upgrade has been correctly performed.

Always check your current version number before applying a firmware update (don't perform unnecessary upgrades)
New units bought directly from Kenton are always shipped with the latest version available at time of shipping.

Loading the firmware into the Pro CV to MIDI

First extract the .syx file from the zip that contains it.

When updating firmware - ensure you use parameter 90 (Socket Select) to change the MIDI socket to an input.
Ensure that the power cannot become accidentally disconnected during the update.

Whilst MIDI is being received the display will flash '2'
When the whole dump has been received the display will show '3'
After the dump has been CRC checked the display will show '4'
When the copy process is complete, the display will show '5' to indicate success.

If the dump was corrupt, the display will show '8'

DO NOT REMOVE POWER FROM THE PRO CV TO MIDI UNTIL THE DISPLAY IS SHOWING '5' OR '8'
- THE WHOLE PROCEDURE COULD TAKE UP TO TWO MINUTES OR MORE DEPENDING ON YOUR HARDWARE

IF YOU REMOVE POWER TOO EARLY THE RESULT WILL BE A DEAD UNIT THAT WILL
NEED TO BE RETURNED TO US FOR RE-FLASHING USING HARDWARE.

-----------------------------------

Recommended programs for performing the firmware upgrade are as follows:
For PC we recommend MIDI-OX see note #1 below
For MAC we recommend SNOIZE see note #2 below

Unfortunately there are a lot of USB to MIDI converters on the market that don't handle SysEx correctly.
This includes at least one known name that you would expect a properly performing product from. They will
handle about 1KB of data only and then corrupt the rest. So if you're having a problem updating, there is
a good chance it will be one of these - try another converter or check on the internet for SysEx problems
with the unit you have. My understanding is that there is a 'rogue' chip on the market that is being used
as the basis for a number of different products, some cheap and some not-so-cheap. Some of the cheaper
ones are actually OK, so in this instance it's not always a case of getting what you pay for!

UPGRADING USING MIDI-OX (PC) [Midi-Ox version 7.0 or earlier]

http://www.midiox.com

You will need to set up the SysEx buffers as follows:

In MIDI-OX go to
Options
       Configure Buffers

set the Low Level OUTPUT Buffers
Size = 65500 (note you will have to type this in manually)
Num  = 2

Click OK

If you don't set the buffers as above you will get an error on the Pro CV to MIDI when you try to install

UPGRADING USING SNOIZE (MAC)
